Some Delone Catholic seniors may be resting a little easier during the college application process this year, thanks in part to recent agreements made with colleges and universities in Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Delone Catholic has partnered with one college and nine universities to offer qualified seniors guaranteed admission as well as scholarship support.

John Coulson, author of a biography on Wee Willie Sherdel, stopped by the DCHS Library to donate a book and snap a photo. Bill "Wee Willie" Sherdel, a McSherrystown native and relative of the Sherdel family, is the winningest left-hander in St. Louis Cardinals' history.

Delone Catholic High School will induct five new members into its Hall of Honor on Feb. 7, 2020, bringing the Hall's total membership to 25. Members of the Delone Catholic community are welcome to join in a series of events throughout the day to celebrate the achievements of this outstanding group of individuals. The Hall of Honor nomination committee also invites nominations for the Hall of Honor Class of 2021.

On Fri., Dec. 20, a special assembly is being planned to give our seniors a glimpse of college life through the eyes of recent Delone Catholic High School graduates. Delone Catholic invites any alumni who are currently enrolled in college, a trade school or enlisted in the military to join us and share their insights and/or advice on how to be better prepared for life after graduation.

Margaret Lawrence, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Lawrence of McSherrystown, Pennsylvania, has been selected to represent the senior class of Delone Catholic High School as the recipient of the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen for 2019-20. Faculty and students chose Margaret as the senior who best exemplifies outstanding qualities of leadership, dependability, service, and patriotism among seniors at Delone Catholic.

Immaculata University and Delone Catholic High School in McSherrystown, within the Diocese of Harrisburg, have entered into an agreement that guarantees admission to Immaculata for qualifying students graduating from Delone Catholic.

Richard La Rocca, principal of Delone Catholic High School, announced last week that Lauren Little has been named a Commended Student in the 2020 National Merit® Scholarship Program. A Letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program, was presented by Mr. La Rocca to this scholastically-talented senior.

By Samantha Dolecki '19 Delone Catholic’s spring musical of the 2018-19 school year, Beauty and the Beast, made sold- out audiences believe in classic Disney magic once again. However, no magic spell was cast to give the production its historic success. The musical was possible with not only an amazing group of student actors and musicians, but with the immense help of some real heroes who made us feel like more than just a guest.

Delone Catholic High School announces the selection of its Hall of Honor Class of 2019. This class, comprising five members, brings the total number of inductees to 20 in four induction classes. The Class of 2019 will be inducted in a series of events to take place on Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, in conjunction with the school’s celebration of Founder’s Day. Founder’s Day 2019 celebrates the 155th birthday of the school’s founding benefactor and namesake, Charles J. Delone, Esq.

Kristen Landsman, a senior at Delone Catholic High School, has won awards for her artwork in the past, but this art contest was different. Her pencil rendition titled “Humanity” was based on the verbal testimony of Holocaust survivor Natan Gipsman.
